On February 12, 2025, an interesting discussion took place at our Vavrinca Benedikta Nedožerského Gymnasium, where we had the opportunity to welcome basketball coach Gareth Murray and player Jacob O'Connell from the Prievidza Basketball Club. This visit was a unique opportunity for us not only to get a glimpse into the world of professional sports but also to gain valuable information about the American and British school systems.

Coach Murray and player O'Connell talked to us about how education works abroad, giving us a practical perspective on studying outside of Slovakia. Since the topic of school systems is part of the English language graduation exam, this discussion was a great preparation for us and also a motivation to consider studying abroad.

In addition to education, they also shared their experiences from the basketball environment. They talked about the language barrier they encountered when working with foreign teammates and how they overcame it. Their experiences showed us how important it is to master English not only at school but also in everyday life and careers.

At the end of the discussion, we had the opportunity to ask questions, which both guests willingly answered. The discussion was very interesting and enriching, giving us a new perspective on education and sports while also helping us improve our communication skills in English.

The entire visit was an exceptional experience for us, and we hope that similar events will take place in the future.
