After a difficult week in many aspects, BC Prievidza rally to beat BK Iskra Svit in dominating fashion 114:62. Nothing to get ahead of oneself about since the guests did not have their best day but definitely an important first step to get back on track.
All week in practice, interim Head Coach Maroš Helmecy had emphasized the need to push the tempo against a Svit team with issues in transition defense. And after a nervous 17:18 start in the first seven minutes, his troops began to heed his advice. Three consecutive three-pointers by C.J. Jackson (2) and Keith Jordan initiated a 9:0 run that set the tone for the remainder of the contest.
Now flow and rhythm of the opening phase of the season came back and BC unloaded the scoring fireworks on an away team that quickly capitulated to the hosts superiority on that evening. The Miners shared the ball beautifully at times and got everybody involved, evidenced by a total of 30 assists and by ten players getting into the scoring column.
The U.S. quartet of Jackson, Jordan, Daishon Smith and Marc Loving led the onslaught with a combined 78 points but locals like Dalibor Hlivak (11 points), Lukas Bolek (7 pts, 4 rebounds) or captain Marek Jass (5 pts) made valuable contributions. All in all, the home team connected on 19 of 33 threes, generated 38(!!!) fastbreak points and celebrated a lopsided 52-point margin victory that gave the 1,106 in attendance a lot to cheer about.
